Nage techniques in Jiujitsu are those related to throwing. There are two types of nage wazas in Jiujitsu which include:
- Tachiwaza – standing throws
- Sutemiwaza – sacrifice throws
The difference between the two types of wazas (Tachi and Sutemi) are that with a standing throw, the person throwing does not end up on the ground after the throw is completed. In a sacrifice throw however, the person throwing will “sacrifice” his own body and position to throw the attacker thus resulting in their ending on the ground as well.
